Cork Con 17 - 33 Old Christians

Our u13s began the 2nd phase of the league with a Friday night lights match away to Cork Con. The hosts started strong and went ahead with just 5 mins gone on the clock. CC 7 - 0 OC. Our lads rallied and started to feel their way into the game. After a sustained period of territorial possession, and some great ball movement, Odhran C went over and the scores were level. CC 7 - 7 OC.

The hosts hit back and took the lead with a try in the corner to put them back in the lead. CC 12 - 7 OC. The lads kept their composure and put Con back under severe pressure and it finally paid off when Rian crashed through their defense to level the match just on half time. CC 12 - 12 OC.

We emphasised at half time about the need to move the ball out wide and to their credit they didn't dissapoint. From the off after the break the lads played with more intensity and displayed great hands throughout. They deservedly took the lead when cian went over after a darting run through the Con defense. CC 12 - 19 OC.

Con hit back with one of their few entrances to the Christians 22 in the 2nd half and manged to touch down in the corner again. CC 17 - 19 OC.

This only spurred our lads on and they continued to stay on top. 2 tries followed from Eoin D who twice broke through their defensive line to go over under the posts. The 2nd showing some great footwork in avoiding the tackle. CC 17 - 33 OC . The lads kept the pressure up right to the final whistle and were unlucky not to add to their tally.

Special shout out to Sam who played his first ever rugby match and looked like he had been playing at 15 all his life. Congrats on the debut.
