Corca Dhuibhne 5
Old Christian's 12
We played our 4th round of the Pan Munster Phase 2 league,a refixed fixture, away to Corca Duibhine on Saturday last.
It had to be the toughest game our lads have ever played due to the weather conditions.
A cross field gale made it impossible for both teams to play good rugby so it was always going to be won and lost up front.
We started well and put them under pressure but handling errors kept leaving them of the hook.
Our skill set and good hands kept plenty of possession and were in their half for long periods and should probably have scored before Brian went over from close in after a number of phases, with Ben doing a great job knocking over the 2 in those conditions.
But the home side came roaring back and within a couple of minutes our hard worked try was cancelled out with them going in in the corner but they missed the extras.
The rest of the half some big hits and great defence kept them out and we went in at ½ time 5-7 up.
Second half no different to the first great defence from 1-15 kept them in check.
With the heavy pitch rotating players in and out kept the energy up and the defence tight and even after shipping a soft yellow we still were comfortable in defence and once we got back to 15 Paudy burst over to make it 5-12 and from then till the end the hard work that was there throughout comfortably kept them out.
Great away win in terrible conditions and leaves up joint top of our table with Cobh and qualification to the Cup competition still in our own hands.
Next game in the Pan Munster is away to Kinsale on Sunday 28th KO@ 12.30
