After 10 mins a strong maul and carry by Dan Kelleher brought a clean line break but unfortunately some poor decision making, and execution meant the move broke down. Another line break in midfield shortly after led to a turnover on Senan’s line with ref calling a pen to the away side.
After 15 mins and 14 phases of play we got a penalty on the opposition line before we powered over from close range courtesy of Jack Lonergan.
Some sloppy kicking and play at this juncture meant Senan’s got some territory in the OC half but some stout defending meant they could not gain any further ground.
A pen from John Marnell after 30 mins pushed us out into a 10-point lead after some quick thinking in the lead up
From the restart some excellent work again by Dan and Conor Dolan led to a line break on the left for Oscar. Having set up a driving maul we powered over from close range through Mark Gleeson with some fancy footwork. John added the extras.
A poor exit from us led to some good field position for Senan’s which they again failed to convert and we cleared our lines well before seeing out the remainder of the half.

Some good interplay between backs and forwards led to a penalty on the 10 which Johnny duly slotted over to add 3 more to his personal tally.
The game stagnated here with mistakes from both sides as subs began to ring across both squads. Old Christians freshening up the front row with Paul Morey and Alex O Leary entering the fray in place of both Conor Smiddy and Ryan Butt. This paid dividends immediately winning a few scrum penalties. From the ensuing kick to touch and lineout OC looked like they would maul over for a try but following the award of a penalty and quick thinking we burrowed over for our 3rd try courtesy of Lazslo. Johnny on fire with boot adding the extras again to maintain his 100% record on the day.
27 – 0 with 20 to play.
Laz and johnny were managing the game well and but for some wayward attack we should have pushed our lead out further.
After 70 mins Cian Smith decided to go WWE and deliver a ‘clothesline from hell’ to the opposition winger which earned him 10 mins on the sideline and a fun Tuesday to look forward to.
After 73 we had a guilt edge chance to get the bonus point. Alex O Leary having done the hard work, claiming a wayward kick and with the line at his mercy did what any other prop would do, panicked in open space and the ball ended up on the ground. Opportunity lost for the Rathcooneymen.
From the ensuing exit OC put on huge pressure and turned over the ball leading to MOTM Oscar Clarke scoring the all-important bonus point. Marnell maintained his 100% record and finished with a personal tally of 14 points.
