U16 Pan Munster Cup Phase2
Old Christians RFC 26 - 19 Cobh Pirates RFC
Our u16s kicked off phase 2 of the Munster cup at home to local rivals Cobh on Saturday 6th.
The game kicked off and for the first 10 mins was a real back ans forth in the middle 3rd. However on the 12th minute Cobh went over first after a sustained few minutes of pressure and good forward play. Our lads dusted themselves off and immediately went down the other end with Andrew getting the final touch for the try and Kayden converting to make it 7 - 7.

After another period of middle 3rd battles with both teams defending their lines couragously, Cobh put togther some good phases of play and sustained pressure. They eventually went over by the base of a ruck inside the 5 to retake the lead. 7 - 14. Again our lads, didnt let it phase them and they themselves put Cobh under a sustained period of pressure, which eventually resulted in phase play inside the Cobh 5. Shayden ending up with the try to make it 12 - 14 at the break.

Both teams came out in the 2nd half confident and determined to get a result. The game ebbed and flowed in both directions, until mid way through the half, when after another period of pressure inside the cobh 22, a lineout malfunction on the 5, allowed Aaron to snipe the ball and touch down for the try, converted by Kayden to make it 19 - 14.

Cobh were not done and they came back at us with real intent and purpose. Despite losing a few to injury and having to reshuffle, the lads stood firm for a large period, however, cobh eventually finished off a fine move to go over in the corner. 19 - 19.

All to play for in the remaining minutes and again both teams going for the win. Our kicking game was now being used to target open space in the cobh 22. Eventually the terroritory pressure paid off, and after some great pack play, the ball was played out the back with Kayden touching down after a superb jinking run. Kayden converted to make it 26 - 19. We saw out the remaining minutes and held out for the victory. The result versus a very evenly matched Cobh team, was a testement to hard work and togetherness, that this team has shown in buckets all season.
