☀️ Sunshine, tries and a fantastic team performance in Rathcooney! ⚫️🔴🟡
Our U14s took to the top pitch to face Cobh on a sun-drenched day in Rathcooney, with the game beginning with a minute’s silence observed by both teams in memory of members of the Cobh club who had sadly passed away recently. Our thoughts are with everyone at Cobh RFC during this difficult time.
Once the whistle blew, Old Christians wasted no time getting into their stride! 💪
A beautifully worked opening try, finished under the posts, set the tone before another black, red and amber wave crashed over the Cobh line to score in the corner.
The backs were beginning to feel left out, so our centre decided to get involved, reading Cobh’s passing play perfectly, intercepting the ball and racing in for another try! 🏃♂️💨
Next up, our number 8 gathered the restart and glided through the opposition to add another score to the tally.
The forwards and backs then combined brilliantly once again, moving the ball through the hands before releasing our speedster on the wing. With the turbo boosters fully engaged, he left the defence behind and finished under the posts! 🚀
By this stage, the Rhinos had taken control, and Cobh conceded the game. With changes made and the bench introduced, the lads continued to show their strength in depth, adding four more tries in the second half to complete an impressive team performance.
🏆 FULL-TIME: OLD CHRISTIANS RFC 57 – 0 COBH RFC
A superb display of attacking rugby, teamwork and squad depth from the U14s. Well done to all the players and coaches!
👏 Thanks to Cobh RFC for travelling to Rathcooney, and our best wishes go to the Cobh club community.
