⚫️🔴🟡 OLD CHRISTIANS RFC – 49 | FERMOY RFC – 7
Another outstanding performance from our U16s today in Rathcooney, as the U16s continued their winning form against Fermoy despite starting the game with just 14 players!
The opening exchanges were tight, but some excellent rugby soon saw Old Christians take control. Our outhalf, Harry Varley, was pulling the strings beautifully, putting runners into space and creating opportunities for the lads to get over the line.
Three well-worked tries, superbly converted by Rian Donovan, gave the old Christians a 21-point lead before Fermoy registered their only score of the afternoon.
The forwards were putting in a huge shift too! 💪 An outstanding seven-man push in the scrum saw hooker Kyle Gillis win a hook against the head, setting the tone for a fantastic team effort.
Captain Eoin Drummy then produced a barnstorming run down the field before Cian Foley finished the move with another try just before half-time.
Unfortunately, Cian picked up an injury while scoring, leaving Old Christians to begin the second half with just 13 players. But if anyone thought that would slow the lads down , they were badly mistaken! 🔥
The tries kept coming as the lads showed incredible character, determination and teamwork. With the score reaching 49 points, Fermoy conceded the game.
🏆 FINAL SCORE: OLD CHRISTIANS RFC 49 – 7 FERMOY RFC
👏 A brilliant performance from every player involved. To play such outstanding rugby with 14 men, and then 13, speaks volumes about the spirit and commitment within this squad.
Well done to the players and coaching team on another fantastic win!
