Maybe it was the dazzling sunshine, but this game was a “tryfest” from start to finish.

We were missing a couple of regulars, but a couple of players put their hands up for a starting place next Thursday.

We had the best of the opening minutes and Rian Farrell scored a try on the 10 minute mark, with Ryan Kavanagh adding the points.

Almost immediately, Clon struck back for a long range try. Again, within minutes, we struck back. Mark got the ball wide out and he did very well to finish past a number of defenders.

Ryan Kavanagh then got in on the try scoring, before another try for the West Cork side, saw us lead by 19 points to 10 pts with twenty minutes gone.

Oran then got in on the act, before he had to leave the field with a knee injury. A great Rory Dennehy try and a conversion from Ryan, meant we led at the break by 33 pts to 10.

We seemed to think the game was over as we started the second half, an early Clon try was cancelled out by Even’s fine effort, but then the home side then took over.

Over the next ten minutes, they added three tries and closed the gap to 40 pts to 34 pts.

The next Clon attack was ended by a fine turn over 5 metres out and Rian Farrell’s try on twenty minutes, lifted the siege. Minutes later, Rory put the game to bed with his second try and Ryan’s conversion proved to be the last score in a 52 pts to 34 pt win.
