U16 v Highfield
We welcomed Highfield to Rathcooney today for our second home fixture of phase 1. We struggled to contain a strong Highfield side in the first half with a number of missed tackles and turnovers telling. We carried well at times with Ryan Kavanagh, Shane Harrington and Will Maxwell making good yards however we were uncharacteristically slow to support leading to turnover ball. Some bright spots out there with performances of Oisin Purdy and Fionn Porta doing well in defence. The lads upped their game in the second half and were rewarded with a try when Evyn crashed over under the posts after a power run by Will in the build up. Great to see Sean back after a long injury, play with great intensity as ever. The lads off the bench all did their part today with Corey, Jamie, Tadgh and Jack coming in and doing well. Man of the match today goes to Evyn O’Callaghan, came on and showed great work rate and intensity, won a brilliant jackle turnover and a try to boot
Special mention to Jayden for his first game for old Christians, did well when he came on with a couple of good carries. Well done Jay.
