Nail biter in Ballyanly, U16’s 24-26 Win
The U16’s took to the road against a combined team of Douglas/Muskerry today. We played some decent rugby at times and had plenty of opportunities to score but coughed up ball in the oppositions 22 all to easily. The pack worked tirelessly today, plenty of unseen donkey work with Eoghan, Darragh, Shane, and Ryan Murphy, amongst those who emptied the tank. Plenty of strong carries too with Rhys C, Will and Ryan K contributing.
12-0 down midway through the 1 st half we eventually broke through with Liam Hadlow going over after some great work in the build up, Sean O Regan duly converting. Muskerry added another try before half time after a laps of concentration let them in. 5 mins into the second half Muskerry scored another converted try against the run of play. With fresh legs on, the lads rallied and the intensity upped a level. You could feel the sense of urgency from the sidelines, after some excellent phase play, William crashed over for a well deserved try with Sean adding another decent conversion. Tails were up now and a third added shortly after with Ciaran touching down under the posts after a slick line-break. 3 points down 2 minutes on the clock, no nails left, the forwards doing their bit, a couple of well controlled phases then out to the backs, a super passage of play with Tadgh touching down in the corner to make it 24-26. What a game!!!
Hard to pick a man of the match today, first half we were off game but for the second half today we play outstanding as a team and as such the award is for the entire panel today, well done lads
