We had our final home game of phase 2 of the Pan Munster league on Saturday and was probably our best team performance so far this year against a good Shannon side.

After our big win last week against Tralee (43-5) this was a much tougher test and the lads showed and fronted up.

0-7 down after 5 mins the lads regrouped and took the game to them making serious yards with some good back play to spend a lot of time in their half.

Some good defence,some wrong options and rushing plays helped keep them ahead but eventually a great intercept from Ben O Connell, touching down under the sticks, leveled it up.

The lads continued the same way with great defence all round from a very mobile side but with plenty of field position our pressure told when they were reduced to 14 with a yellow and after a couple of phases a fantastic cross field kick by Ben was "eventually" fielded by a combo of Mark and Sean

12-7 at ½time

Second half was a tight affair with both teams going for it but no scores until we got a penalty mid way through and took the 3 pts to put it out to a 2 score lead.

Pressure from Shannon resulted in a 7 pointer reducing it to the minimum but after that we got into and stayed in their half and saw the game out inside their 22

Great display from everyone today and we'll take this, and work on the thing that didnt go so well today, for Midleton away next Saturday KO 11.30(tbc)
