U16 QF away to Sundays Well 29-0 Loss

We bowed out of the Pan Munster competition losing away to Sundays Well. The First half was a right arm wrestle between both teams and we defended well in the early quarter with some great tackles been made Riain and Oscar with a couple of fine examples there. We had opportunities on their 5 but squandered our chance with some sloppy play. We carried plenty with Ryan K, Rhys and Darragh O’’D all making good ground. At times we were uncharacteristically slow to support the ball carrier and that cost us as we all too easily left isolated resulting in the turnover. We eventually conceded a converted try just on the half hour mark after a spell of intense pressure by Sundays Well found a gap in our line. Just after half time we lost both liam kelleher and Rhys Cambridge and we struggled to contain the opposition from there. The Well added to their tally and adding to the injury woes we then lost Oisin Purdy when he came off with a broken collar bone after landing heavily in a tackle. We wish Oisin a speedy recovery. The Well completed the scoring with a couple of more try’s both from balls as we attacked their 22, allowing them to run the length of the pitch to score. Our second half performance was poor by our own standards, the lads will learn from it, ultimately we were second best today.

Player of the match

A few solid performances out there despite the loss, Oscar in the wing, Ryan Kavanagh carrying plenty, but today Darragh O Donnabhain takes the accolade, made plenty of yards with his carries rucked and tackled well all game, never gave up battling. well done Darragh
