Our U16s travelled away today to Clonakilty for the first game in the Pan Munster league.
In what were very trying conditions Old Christians played with the wind in the first half and the game from the off was an arm wrestle and to a man our boys fronted up and gradually began to get a grip of the game, There efforts were rewarded when Brian Barry crashed over from 5 metres and Sean O Regan coverted.0 -7 Old Christians. The score remained this way till 5 minutes from halftime when again Brian crashed over in the corner for his second Halftime score 0- 12.
Clonakilty began the second half with the aid of the strong wind and our boys defended manfully and we emptied the bench, but we eventually succumbed to the pressure 7-12. The game now became a game of good defence and our boys showed up time after time and finally broke Clons spirit with a well worked try the ball was put through the hands and ended with Shane Harrington crossing to score.
This proved to be the final score and Old Christians ran out deserved winners 7 - 17.
A big effort by all players that travelled and all played their part. Thanks again to the parents for getting the boys to us much appreciated.
