The J3 league kicked off with our first game of the season away to Cobh on Friday night. This year we have an expanded league with 12 teams involved so plenty of games ahead and we are always looking for players to fill the squad.

We started the game against the hill and driving rain, you could see from the outset that it was going to be a tough battle, plenty of hits and hard running. The Hosts took the lead with a intercept try with a penalty following soon after. We hit back with a try of our own after some decent forward play sucked in the defence allowing us to spread it out for Liam Carty to crash over under the posts leaving it 10-7 at half time. After the break Cobh added a second and we went down to 14 men due to injury but the lads kept battling. Another soft penalty allowed Cobh to edge ahead further. Despite being a man down we dominated the final quarter and we awarded when MOTM Carty dived over after a brilliant line break from the 22 to leave the score 18-12 to Cobh. The lads showed great heart out there and gave it everything, hon Old Christians!
