Today We Played Nenagh Ormonde in Our 3rd game in the Bank of Ireland U16 Pan Munster Cup on the 4G Pitch in UL Limerick. The 2 teams currently occupied the Top 2 positions in this Group with both teams having won their previous 2 matches.
Today something was going to give and our boys started like they meant business, within in 5 minutes of KO we were ahead, a turnover followed by a few phases of play saw Dav use a miss move in the centre which saw Liam leave the Nenagh defence flat footed and score under the posts, Donnacha duely converted Old Christians leading 0-7, a dream start from the boys. The game now became a game for the defences with most of the first half being played between the two 22 metre lines.
The boys stood up to everything Nenagh threw at them and were unlucky on afew occasions not to get a another couple of line breaks.A speculative kick from Nenagh 2 mins before half lead to a bit of panic in our 22 which led to a Nenagh scrum for a knock on, they played a few phases but eventually crossed in the corner. 5-7 Old Christians Nenagh try was unconverted. So the score at halftime was 5-7 Old Christians.
Our boys started the second half as they had the first with the bit between their teeth the introduction of both Chris & Ollie was a major positive as their ball carrying gained so much much ground Nenagh now were on the back foot again and in the first half we scored early again a try in the corner by Tadhg. Old Christians now lead 5-12 throughout the the half the boys stuck game fully to the plan and again their efforts were rewarded with a try finished by Mark in the corner. Old now lead 5-17 with time running out, the expected onslaught of Nenagh did come but they what would be only a consolation try in the dying minutes the final score being
Nenagh Ormonde 5- 17 Old Christians.
